#IMBoss charity raised funds last year for SALTorg which awarded scholarships for children and young college students from poorer rural areas in Vietnam.

A handful of Vietnamese students who received scholarships from IM Alumni have written us about what this support meant for them. There were 20 scholarships, of about CHF 100 each, and these amounts made a huge difference.  “This is a very large encouragement both physic and mental for the students having the same difficult condition as me,” writes Nguyen Thi Minh Anh. “It helped me pay up for my studying (especially having the chance to learn English, informatics, ..) as well as assuring of my daily living in dormitory more better.”

Nearly CHF 2700 was raised at the 2018 Bid for a Boss charity auction which was forwarded to the SALTorg charity who were able to award 10 scholarships to primary school children in poor rural regions in Vietnam and another 10 scholarships to young students in Ho Chi Minh City who came from poorer families. For the young school pupils it meant that school fees, books, clothes and food was paid for for a year: For the college students it significantly reduced costs.

“I feel very happy friendly and happy, for me this is not just about the physical dynamics but also solace is immense mental support you worry about food and clothing rice money to them to continue efforts to learn further training,” wrote  Nguyen Thi Kim Hung who began her degree at the International Economics Faculty of the Banking University of HCMC.

Fellow student Tran Le Phuong Dung also said the scholarship meant her family did not need to worry so much once she received the scholarship.”Thank to your scholarship, my tuition fee in the first year in my new school has been decreased a large count, which helped both my family is not more nervous and I feel confident of facing, adapting, living, studying a new habitat.”

Most students used the money to cover general costs.  Luong Tieu My reports she used it to study and pay for the Microsoft Office Specialist exam. “I am touched by your generous gift. It is really meaningfull for me. Thank you for treating me to kind.”

Nguyen Thi Minh Anh, like others, reported they would make their families and IM Alumni proud by studying hard and, as some said, become successful so they in turn could support other students with scholarships in the future. “I am currently majoring in International Economics with hopes of becoming a bussiness woman. The financial assistance you provided will be of great help to me in paying my educational expenses, and it will allow me to concentrate more of my time for studying. Thank you again for your generosity and support.  I promise you I will study very hard and eventually give something back to others as bussiness woman.”
